The Boyana waterfall, one of the most visited attractions in the Vitosha mountain, makes for a great getaway from the busy city and the summer heat. There are two ways for you to get there. You can start your hike from the Boyana neighborhood or you can go by car to “Kopitoto” like we choose to do. “Kopitoto” is an area where you can get a spectacular view of the city from above and often people go there for a picnic.
A little bit further on the road there is a hotel with the same name and right next to it starts a very well marked touristic path towards the waterfall. Even if you’re not an experienced hiker, there’s no chance to get lost.
The actual hike lasts about 30-40 minutes. Most of it is a very relaxing walk surrounded by fresh air and greenery. But keep in mind that the last 10-15 minutes can be very challenging if you’re not in a good shape, because the path suddenly gets very steep. It’s not fun. At all. But once you get to the waterfall you’ll have plenty of time to chill, have a little picnic, even sunbathe and enjoy the beautiful nature. On the weekends there are a lot of people visiting the Boyana waterfall but during the week you might even get the place all to yourself.
